Tequila Slammer

A Tequila Slammer is categorised as a cocktail served in a shooter glass. The drink, as you can imagine gets its name from the way it is consumed.

People will probably admit a Tequila Slammer is consumed for the sensation as opposed to the actual taste.

The Recipe

This recipe serves 1

• 1 part tequila
• 1 part ginger ale or champagne

Half fill a shooter glass with tequila, and then add the fizz. Cover the top of the glass with either your hand or a napkin and slam on a hard surface and consume quickly. The slamming causes gas bubbles, therefore causing the drink to foam energetically.

Variations

The ginger ale or champagne can be substituted for lemonade or limeade, or practically anything that has a fizz!

Another common way to drink tequila is straight along side salt and lime/lemon. In your left hand, palm down add a touch of salt just below the thumb and hold your lime or lemon. Take a shooter glass filled with tequila in your right hand. Then consume as follows; lick the salt, down the shot and suck on the lime/lemon. This method complements the tequila; however, the order can be changed for your liking.
